Meet three of our energetic, courageous and enthusiastic employees, who are part the diverse team we are so proud of:
Naira from Armenia has lived in Norway for 12 years. She is now the General Manager of Clarion Collection Hotel Gabelshus.
My name is Naira and I am the General Manager of Clarion Collection Hotel Gabelshus. I come from Armenia and I have lived in Norway for 12 years. My first encounter with Nordic Choice was the breakfast at Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania. It started as a summer job. After a while I got extra shifts in the staff canteen. I got to know kind and helpful colleagues. Through working with them, I quickly learned Norwegian. By the end of the summer, I got a permanent job as a receptionist. Later I became a Service Manager.
After seven fantastic and educational years at Royal Christiania, I was ready for new challenges. For a short period of time, I worked on the pre-opening of the Comfort Hotel Xpress, before becoming Front Desk Manager at Hotel Gabelshus. The tasks I was presented with that year challenged me, and I took some long and vital steps.
When my General Manager was transferred to another Clarion Collection hotel, I was ready to take on the management position myself. Since January 2010, I have run Clarion Collection Hotel Gabelshus. I love the job, thanks to a fantastic staff and great regular guests. I want to thank all those who have helped and inspired me to get where I am today.
Meet Mo from Somalia. He came to Nordic Choice through The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Service (NAV) introductory programme. At present, he is working part time with us while studying.
My name is Mo. I was born in Somalia 25 years ago. In October 2010, I began the two-year introductory programme in the Borough of Grünerløkka. Now I stand on my own two feet in Norway. I did my in-service training at Comfort Hotel Børsparken in the centre of Oslo. For three months, I worked in the kitchen. After just one week, I became part of the kitchen staff football team. The work and the work environment suited me. My boss agreed, so now I am combining work at the hotel with an education on the side.
Meet Kristoffer Sandberg, who was made famous through the TV series ‘The World’s Best Hotel’. Now he is a receptionist at Clarion Collection Hotel Bolinder Munktell.
My name is Kristoffer Sandberg and I work at Clarion Clollection Hotel Bolinder Munktell. I was in a Swedish TV series called ‘The World’s Best Hotel’, which was recorded at this very hotel. I started working at Hotel Bolinder as a trainee in connection with the TV series and now I am a TV star as well as permanently employed by the hotel. I am very happy, as this is the best job in the world!
At the moment, I work mostly at the front desk and in the conference division. However, I also help out in the kitchen. I have learned a lot at the hotel. The most important thing is to make the guests feel welcome. And at Clarion Collection you are supposed to feel like you’re in a home away from home. We offer our guests waffles and an evening meal.
